CAMP Series 2025: A Morning of Wellness, Connection,

and Practical Health Wisdom

June 19, 2025 — Manila, Philippines

In today’s fast-paced world, where the demands of life can take a toll on our physical and mental health, the CAMP Series 2025 came as a refreshing change.

This event, hosted by Otsuka (Philippines) Pharmaceutical, Inc. (OPPI) in collaboration with Manila Central University (MCU) and Pocari Sweat, kicked off with its first session for the year titled “The Triad of Vitality: Hydration, Mind Care, and Lung Health.”

It was a lively gathering that united students, healthcare professionals, and wellness advocates for an engaging and informative experience.

Taking place live at 8:00 AM, June 19 at www.otsuka.health.com.ph, the session highlighted three crucial yet often neglected components of our daily wellness: the importance of staying hydrated, nurturing our mental health, and keeping our lungs healthy.

A Holistic Approach to Health, Powered by Heart

The morning kicked off with a warm greeting from Ms. Hisayo Nishihara, the President & General Manager of Otsuka Philippines, who highlighted the company’s strong dedication to holistic wellness. “Our mission is to connect science with everyday life. Hydration, mental wellness, and lung care aren’t just medical issues—they’re integral to how we live, breathe, and think every single day,” she expressed.

To get everyone’s hearts racing and energy levels soaring, the crowd participated in an energetic Zumba session led by Pocari Sweat, demonstrating that movement is indeed medicine—and joy is a key ingredient.

The event’s standout moment was a lively talk show-style discussion featuring two experienced experts:

  • Dr. Joan Mae Perez-Rifareal, a passionate advocate for mental wellness and hydration
  • Dr. Nepthalie Ordoñes, a pulmonary specialist dedicated to lung health education

With host Jonathan Yu, also known as #SukingHost, guiding the conversation, the doctors explored how hydration, mental clarity, and respiratory strength work in harmony. They addressed common myths (“Just because you’re not coughing doesn’t mean your lungs are fine”), the risks of modern lifestyles (“Our tech-driven habits are causing us to breathe less deeply”), and shared practical tips—from breathing exercises to hydration practices.

Dr. Joan brought attention to how even mild dehydration can cloud our thinking and the heavy emotional burden that unmanaged stress can create. Meanwhile, Dr. Nepthalie emphasized the significance of good breathing habits, spotting early signs of lung problems, and taking precautions against tuberculosis (TB)—a crucial reminder for those entering the healthcare field. The conversation was not only enlightening but also relatable, filled with light-hearted moments and “Aha!” insights that resonated with both students and professionals alike.

Participants engaged in an open forum, where they asked everything from hydration advice to the best breathing techniques when stressed. A fun interactive quiz game added an element of excitement, with prizes generously provided by Pocari Sweat.

The event wrapped up with a touching message from Mr. Ken Saito, General Manager of Otsuka-Solar: “It’s not just about what we know—it’s about how we put that knowledge into action. Let’s take what we’ve learned today and start building healthier habits, one small step at a time.”

The CAMP Series is more than just a lecture—it’s a movement. It’s about fostering a culture of proactive health for the next generation, beginning with simple yet effective steps like staying hydrated, breathing properly, and tuning into our mental well-being.

As the event ended, the message was unmistakable: true vitality isn’t found in extremes—it’s cultivated through daily care.
