CORPORATE SOCIAL RESPONSIBILITY
| Otsuka Unveils Otsuka CARES (Corporate
Action RESpondents) |
 |
October 26, 2007
was a big day for OTSUKA (Philippines) Pharmaceutical,
Inc. It marked the launching of its Corporate
Social Responsibility group dubbed Otsuka CARES
(Corporate Action RESpondents) and the unveiling
of the Otsuka CARES logo, Bing Santos’
winning entry in the logo making contest. |
Coinciding with the launch was
the blood letting activity which Otsuka co-partnered
with King’s Court Development, Inc. and the
Philippine National Red Cross.
Otsuka has long been involved
in community work providing disaster relief assistance
to victims of calamities and involving itself in
activities that would result to meaningful and sustainable
change in society. The creation of its CSR group
demonstrates Otsuka’s commitment to continue
the work it has started-- to serve society.
Kicking off with a short
program, Mr. Hirofumi Inoue, President and General
Manager dedicated the Blood Letting activity to
the victims of dengue and other diseases that require
blood transfusion.
 |
The event was a big success as a huge turnout
of tenants and guests of KDI lined up to have
their blood screened for donation. The support
was heart warming with several donors seen
crying as they struggled to overcome their
fear of the needle to contribute to the cause.
Some employees who were not qualified to donate
even brought friends to participate in this
company endeavor of saving lives.

| "Call
to Donate : A Signature for a Cause Program" |
 |
Last April 28,
2008, the CSR group of OPPI, Otsuka Cares, launched
the “Call to Donate: A Signature for a
Cause Program”.
This program is primarily geared at promoting
awareness to the MDs that we are not just
a business entity but we are also doing our
share to uplift the lives of our countrymen
by being advocates of education and health
programs. |
In the program,
a corresponding amount is given every time
the MD signs on the Pocket PC in the course
of the Med Rep’s coverage. The accumulated
amount will then be donated to UNICEF which
will be used for their projects for children’s
education. |
